Studies of families with fathers actively involved in both childcare and household responsibilities, reported preschoolers who showed increased cognitive competence, increased capacity for empathy, increased self-control, and a decrease in gender-stereotyped beliefs.
Healthy Relationships for work and home
The Skills for Work and Life workshop is created for individuals to learn skills they can use in any relationship – acquaintances, neighbors, family and co-workers. Attendees learn and practice proven skills from the program, Within My Reach. These skills include effective communication, problem solving, managing personal stress and self-care.
We have introduced Prepare-Enrich groups to improve the way and the number of couples we serve. Prepare-Enrich is one of the best known, most effective marriage program in the country. It has traditional been done with one facilitator working with one couple at a time. Though the group program we can serve 10 to 50 couples in one location with the same great assessment, education, and personalized interactions with the couples.
Parenting Workshop makes a difference!
I won a yearlong custody battle of my autistic 8 year old son, which left me financially drained and emotionally beaten. I found myself living in a shelter with my son, excited to be safe as a family, but stressed over what to do now. With the partnership to bring resources to the shelter, I had the opportunity to participate in a Parenting Workshop by Northwest Family Services.
The facilitator, CarrieAnn, brought a lot of knowledge I was lacking regarding proper parenting methods and so many helpful things that now I feel energized and excited to put these practices into action.
As the classes continued I found myself moving away from my previous, and ineffective methods, mostly doing things out of habit or instinct. Now, I stop to think how this will effect my son and his unique needs. Our relationship and connection is growing stronger by the day.
